A book launch and signing event featuring Katherine Nichols, author of "Deep Waters" "Deep Waters" is a true story of the Coronado Company, taking place in 1971. A seventeen year old Eddie Otero, skilled warerman and avid surfer, is offered a job to swim a small illicit package across the border. It was a thrilling job, and the business only grew bigger. Once they recruited their spanish teacher, Lou Villar, their small time smuggling job grew into a hundred-million dollar transcontinental operation. Nichols is a former teacher and longtime journalist who grew up in Coronado. Following a question and answer session, a signing reception with the author will take place. This event will be held in the Winn Room and copies of the novel will be available to purchase.
