Artist Doris Besikof is currently featured in the Spreckels Gallery at the John D. Spreckels Center. She has also been selected two times to display images in the Orange Avenue Celebrating Coronado Artists series.
"In 1994, my friend and mentor, Denver painter Greta Hilb, opened up a whole new world to me when she persuaded me to paint with her. Since my retirement from the law in 2000, I have painted almost full time, with 11 years as Loew's Hotel artist and numerous one-woman shows and seminars. During times of CA fire disaster, I have been pleased to use proceeds from the sale of my art for those in need.
Oil is a favorite among various mediums I use. The style of my painting, from large abstract to figurative, is adapted to suit my subject matter. I am told that whatever the subject or style, my use of color makes paintings identifiable as my work."
Doris Besikof was the September 2018 Cultural Arts Commission "Artist of the Month."
