Justine Dolorfino-Thieman has lived and breathed music for as long as she can remember, and enjoys playing music around the Coronado region with the Coronado Big Band on bass. Originally from Metro Detroit, Michigan, she earned a dual B.A. in music and psychology from Kalamazoo College. While in college, she played both upright bass and bass guitar in the college’s orchestra, pit orchestra, and jazz band, and spent two trimesters studying popular music abroad at Goldsmiths College, University of London. Her graduate studies took her to Teachers College, Columbia University, where she earned an Ed.M. in K-12 music education. In addition to her time spent with the Coronado Big Band and other regional music groups, her biggest musical passion is teaching private lessons on bass guitar, upright bass, and guitar. She works with students of all ages and all musical interests, both online and in her studio in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego.
