About the Art

Home Savings was a large bank with many branches throughout California. Many of the bank branches had commissioned beautiful murals--often mosaics on their exteriors. The Bank no longer exists and this site became a Petco store which has also closed. The 1985 mural is by Millard Owen Sheets (b.1905) who created the murals for many of the other branches as well. It depicts one of the ferries that cross the Bay from Coronado to San Diego with a flock of seagulls and a choppy sea.
