2024 "LOVE" Exhibition

Love serves as the muse that fuels artistic expression, infusing creativity with depth, passion, and emotional resonance. Through the lens of love, artists find inspiration to capture the complexities of the human experience, creating timeless works that resonate universally with audiences.

The Coronado Cultural Arts Commission (CAC) is calling local artists aged 50-plus to submit artwork with a theme of love for inclusion in an exhibition in the Spreckels Gallery in the John D. Spreckels Center. The exhibition, LOVE, will be mounted by the CAC to highlight the work of local artists.

To participate, artists must qualify as one of the following: 1) a resident of Coronado 2) an employee, teacher or property owner in Coronado, 3) an operator of a gallery in Coronado or an artist in good standing with the Coronado Art Association. The Spreckels Gallery is in a city-owned facility that serves adults 50-plus so artists submitting are in that demography. Artwork must be original and the work of the registered applicant. Artists may sell their juried artwork through direct contact between the artist and potential buyer. Work must be able to be hung and the size of work is not to exceed 36” x 48” x 2”.

The exhibition will open on Friday evening, February 9, 2024, with an artist reception hosted by the Cultural Arts Commission and the City of Coronado. The show will be open at the John D. Spreckels Center through July 24, 2024. A primary goal of the Cultural Arts Commission is to creates opportunities for Coronado artists to display their artwork in public spaces.

Application deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, January 15. The fee for this show is waived.
