The 15th Annual College of Fine Arts Hall of Fame celebration at UNLV features a cocktail reception, dinner, and ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in the Student Union ballroom. Honorees include architect and urban planner Denise Scott Brown; American artist Dale Chihuly and Leslie Jackson Chihuly, president of Chihuly Studio; Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté; Myron Martin, president and CEO of the Smith Center; and the "First Lady of Motown," Claudette Robinson. Also being recognized with the Koep Dean's Medal are broadcaster and educator Harvey Allen and arts administrator William Lowman. Elizabeth Page started March 19 at the Coronado Public Library as the Senior Librarian, Head of Youth Services. She comes from the Monrovia Public Library in the San Gabriel Valley working 8 years in various positions including Youth Services Supervisor. Previous to that she worked as the Teen Librarian at Moorpark City Library and the Tween Library at the Ann Arbor District Library in Michigan. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry from Washington State University and a Masters in Information Science from the University of Michigan. Elizabeth is active in the American Library Association serving on book award committees including the Printz Award, and is currently serving on the Alex Awards, helping to choose quality adult books with teen appeal. Her passions include storytelling for preschoolers, developing elementary age programming, and staying up with popular culture. She even wrote a book in 2011 on using popular culture to develop programs for teens titled Create, Relate and Pop @the Library: Services and Program for Teens & Tweens.Read more›

The City of Coronado seeks to involve local artists/teams to work with the 2018 Sit a Spell and Play a Tune Public Art Program to artistically decorate working pianos sited in Coronado public spaces. Artists will be required to create designs for an artistic piano to be installed in public areas in Coronado. To be considered artists/teams are required to develop and submit visual concepts for piano designs for jury review and selection. If approved by the City Council the final artwork submitted will be digitized and applied to console pianos via a graphic wrap process.Read more›
