Read more›The Coronado Cultural Arts Commission at their March meeting approved a Wrapped Utility Box Public Art Project: A public art project wrapping 18-20 Utility Boxes in Coronado. The theme of the project: Wheels, Wings & Water: Coronado 125 Years of Transportation. Why wraps? -- well wraps are durable, replaceable and artists work can be reproduced beautifully on wrap film. If grafitti or other damage occurs on a wrapped box the film can be removed and replaced. The shelf life of a wrap is approximatley five years and when the wrap is ready for replacement the film is easily removed leaving a blank canvas for another round of original artwork.

This award is presented annually to owners that have "Gone the Extra Mile" to preserve and restore an original structure rather than tearing it down or replacing it.
