Coronadan Frank Wadleigh joins us next Friday, August 14, for an intriguing Wine & Lecture event. Frank will provide the audience with an introduction to his new historical thriller, “Phoenix Mistress,” based on his service in the CIA during the Vietnam War. The book, centered in Saigon, features an unusual plot surrounding the little known activities of CIA operatives to win the “hearts and minds” of the Vietnamese population.
The author, a Senior Intelligence Analyst at Headquarters MACV (Military Assistance Command) during this period, was tasked with investigating the effectiveness of the Phoenix program, and soon found himself entangled in a web of student protestors in Vietnam who had been arrested and tortured. It was then that he met Thanh, the seductive “Phoenix Mistress”….
Today, Frank Wadleigh, Ph.D., works in the computer field, specializing in mathematical models of cell-signaling pathways for cancer research. He is founder/CEO of Nova Scientia, Inc., a small biotech company.
All Wine & Lecture events begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Lecture Hall of the Coronado Museum, 1100 Orange Avenue. These lectures are FREE; wine is available for $5 per glass. No RSVP is necessary, but seating is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, please call (619) 435-7242 x 103.Share on Twitter Share on Facebook
