“Chicago” Opens Nov. 1 At CoSA

Rouge your knees, roll your stockings down, and all that jazz . . . ‘cause “Chicago” is coming to Coronado. San Diego County’s premier public school arts conservatory, Coronado School of the Arts (CoSA), will perform America’s most popular musical, “Chicago,” opening Saturday, Nov. 1 and continuing through Nov. 8 at the Coronado Performing Arts Center, 650 D Ave, 92118. Tickets can be purchased at www.cosasandiego.com or at the Box Office 30 minutes before show time. Special dinner and shows pairings are also available (see below).

Fans of this six-time Tony award-winning musical will be “razzle-dazzled” by the talent of this pre-professional troupe, who are staging Roxie Hart’s jazzy tale of fortune, fame, and betrayal Saturday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, Nov 8 at 7 p.m.

“Our production is based on the Tony Award winning 1996 revival which is still running on Broadway,” says director Barbara Wolf, PhD, who chairs CoSA’s Musical Theatre and Drama conservatory. “Minimal scenery, simple costumes, and a live band on-stage deliver one big musical bang after another.”

CoSA has partnered with Windy City themed food trucks and local proprietors to offer “dinner and a show” pairings with proceeds benefitting CoSA Foundation:

• Saturday, Nov. 1, 6 p.m. through Intermission: Lefty’s Chicago Pizzeria, served at the theatre

• Sunday, Nov. 2, 12:30 p.m. through Intermission: It’s A Dog’s World Food Truck

• Saturday, Nov. 7, 6 p.m. through Intermission Taste of Chicago Food Truck

• Sunday, Nov. 8, Pre & Post Show Chicago-Style Dining at The Tavern, 1310 Orange Avenue. visit www.coronadotavern.com for more information and to see the special Chicago menu and drinks, 10% of proceeds to CoSA
