The Coronado Cultural Arts Commission is pleased to announce the installation of the Community Center Art Gallery, a special space used exclusively to exhibit art work by local artists. The gallery will be comprised of four areas to exhibit work of various media, including paintings and photography, pottery, sculpture, and glass, etc. Overall, the gallery will be approximately 60 linear feet of display area.
The opening exhibition, one of the Celebrate 125 events, is “Visions of Coronado,” a juried show by local artists of works inspired by Coronado, which will run Nov. 19 through March 2016. The ribbon cutting and artists’ reception will be held in the Nautilus room on Nov. 19. The gallery will be used for future juried exhibitions featuring up to four artists on a rotating basis. There will be a People’s Choice Award for the Visions exhibit, which will provide the winning artists an opportunity for an exhibition in 2016.
The Coronado Community Center Art Gallery is an exhibition opportunity and a service to local artists. Artists may offer their work for sale. Informational meetings will be held at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Sept. 30 in the gallery space (the hallway between the Nautilus room and Coronado Playhouse at the Coronado Community Center) to provide more detail on this and upcoming events, as well as to answer any questions from the artists.
