Last Chance to Register for Canyon Crest Academy’s

8th Annual CCA Writers’ Conference, Saturday, February 23

SAN DIEGO, CA – High school students from all over San Diego County and neighboring areas are invited to attend the 8th Annual CCA Writers’ Conference - the only free writing conference for high school students in the US. It will be held from 8:30-4:30, on Saturday, February 23, at Canyon Crest Academy, San Diego.

Last year, 230 students from 40 high schools attended, enjoying writing workshops by New York Times bestselling and award-winning authors, Hollywood screenwriters, playwrights, poets, and more. This year’s speaker line-up and workshop topics can be seen here: https://ccawritersconference2019.weebly.com/ .

The CCA Writers’ Conference was started in 2012 by a student who attended the SDSU Writers Conference and wanted to bring the same inspirational workshops to her peers. It has grown to be an annual institution enjoyed by thousands of San Diego high school students. As author Greg van Eekhout said, “San Diego is going to have more than its fair share of published authors in the future because of this conference.”

The conference keynote titled Life is a Game of Inches will be given by J.C. Cervantes, author of the New York Times bestselling book, THE STORM RUNNER (Disney-Hyperion), a Rick Riordan Presents selection.

The inspirational speaker is national award winning spoken word poet Viet Mai, an educator, poet and entrepreneur from San Diego. Mr. Viet currently serves as a Program Facilitator with the Village of Promise Collective Mentoring Program, and an Independent

Consultant. He will present: Speaking My Narrative Into Empowerment.

Because of the generosity of corporate sponsors Hamilton Education, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Art Place.Net, and Jimbo’s Naturally!, as well fundraising by the CCA Creative Writing Club, the conference is free to attendees and even includes a free lunch. Writing conferences normally cost hundreds of dollars, so this is a great opportunity for high school students.

Other speakers include:
