Jan. 15th - Adventures of Pyongyang Marathon Runner

Share the experience of a 73-year old female marathon runner who visited elusive North Korea and participated in the 2016 Pyongyang Marathon. Gloria McCoy will thrill and inspire us with her tale.

For those of you who may not know, Armchair Travel meets the third Tuesday of every month - this month on Tuesday, January 15 - at 6:00pm, in the beautiful Nautilus Room of the Coronado Recreation Center, 1845 Strand Way.  Refreshments are served from 6:00-6:45, then the speaker will begin his presentation.  This is a wonderful opportunity for community members and visitors to meet old friends and make new acquaintances with whom they share a common interest in travel.  The city charges a $5 admission fee, payable at the Recreation Center front desk.

Upcoming trips!
Feb. 19th - The Old City of Jerusalem

Art Wilcox will share with you a photographic tour of the Old City of Jerusalem. His tour is designed to give you a perspective and understanding of the layout of the Old City, familiarizing you with both the points of importance which have been visited by pilgrims for nearly two thousand years, as well as the changes which have occurred in the Old City from Biblical times to the present.  His presentation is intended to help bring a clearer understanding of the Old City to those who have visited Jerusalem, and to assist those planning or considering a visit.

For those of you who may not know, Armchair Travel meets the second Tuesday of every month - this month on Tuesday, January 15 - at 6:00pm, in the beautiful Nautilus Room of the Coronado Recreation Center, 1845 Strand Way.

March 19th  The Alps in a Corner of Europe

The Alps are the highest and most spectacular mountain range in Europe.  In May/June of last year, Irwin Karp and his wife Ann Bancroft visited and hiked portions of the Alps in Germany (Garmisch-Partenkirchen), in Switzerland (Bern, Murren & Gruyeres), and in Italy (Cogne in the Valle d’Aosta & Lake Orta). Join Irwin as we explore the majesty of the Alps through photos and stories of their hikes and scenic drives.
