Between 1940 and 1945, the small city of Coronado grew to over 25,000 residents. WWII brought servicemen, their families, and those who found work on the naval base. To accommodate the growing number of people, the Federal Housing Project was built in 1944. The project was a good temporary solution for military housing, but after the war, it quickly became a community blight.

Join us for a conversation of remembrances and storytelling, as we look back on this controversial Housing Project. Conversations will be led by a historian and recorded for CHA's archive collection. Stories collected will be used for research or exhibits. This event is free of charge however, participants must sign Oral History releases to participate.
