The "Painted Rocks" trail is located on the outskirts of Escondido and is part of the San Diego Kumeyaay Indian nation. This natural refuge for native and migratory animals circles Lake Hodges and is strewn with boulder-covered hills. At just under four miles, this wide trail will offer us a few challenging hills. Karl Strauss in 4S Ranch is where we will stop for some local brews and delicious west coast pub fare.
Please dress in hiking appropriate, breathable clothing, with comfortable closed-toed hiking shoes. Transportation and admission included; the cost of lunch and beverages is on your own.
