Claudia Gallant

Visual Arts: Painting

About the artist: Claudia Gallant is a late bloomer in the world of painting. As a former Coronado career elementary teacher and district administrator for 36 years, she always loved teaching art and art history to her young students.  Always dreaming of taking an art class herself, in 2013 she finally jumped in and hasn’t stopped since. Claudia is mostly a studio oil painter, with subjects taken from her own photographs. Over the past year, she has explored the exciting world of painting en plein air, influenced by her love of California landscape impressionism. Claudia has been surrounded by art and artists all her life: her family members and friends, her time as an executive assistant at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, her former students, and currently, her art teacher, Kris Finch, and fellow adult students.  She is particularly inspired by her family, her travels, and the beauty of her hometown of Coronado and the San Diego area. I am always learning, forever a student. I love the challenge, the process, and the final product. I feel like I am just getting started. Claudia is honored to be included in this year's Celebrate Coronado Artists Banner Series.
