The 27-time Emmy® Award-winning Jane Mitchell is an accomplished broadcast journalist and author. Her passion for storytelling stems from growing up in a Navy family in Coronado, traveling the world and being encouraged by her mother, a teacher, to write about her experiences.
Her book is called One on One – My Journey with Hall of Famers, Fan Favorites and Rising Stars. The Foreword is by Dick Enberg and Tony Gwynn. For 15 years, the TV program One on One with Jane Mitchell, gave viewers an in-depth look at San Diego’s top sports figures, many known throughout the nation including Trevor Hoffman, Ted Williams, Doug Flutie and Drew Brees.
Not a sports fan growing up, she graduated from the University of California, San Diego with Political Science honors and earned a Masters from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism then a news reporter in Texas and Oklahoma. She returned home when her father was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. After 4 years with the NBC station, she helped create Channel 4 San Diego, the 15-year home of the Padres.
In 2012, she launched One on One Productions, building on her brand for professional services including video production, media coaching, speaking, teaching and creative consulting. The Coronado native is also a new mother of a second generation Islander.
